Stampin' Up! Convention 2010

I have just returned from the Stampin' Up! Annual Convention which was fantastic. This year it was held in Sydney which was an added attraction as it is my home town.
Conventions always start with exchanging swap cards which is a great way to meet people. The picture above shows my swap cards. Click here to see a better picture in a past post.
You could give one of your swaps to Stampin' Up! and they put them on boards for everyone to see. This is one of the boards. The standard of the cards was amazing.

More pictures to come in the next post.

My Male Cards

Faux Wood makes a great background for male cards. Last month I held classes to make cards for men using the faux wood technique. We had lots of fun using different stamps for the centre.

I love using the stamp set 'Seaworthy ', shown below, and for an Australian theme 'All Aboriginal' looks very masculine.

The faux wood is made by scoring lines 1 cm apart down the length of the card then wiping two different stamp pads down the card. That's it !! You can add a bit of detail by drawing in planks and nails. The ink colours used in this card are Chocolate Chip and Creamy Caramel.
The frame is made using 4 thin strips of chocolate chip , stuck together to form a frame. Each corner has a brad inserted then the frame is attached to the card using dimensionals.
I have stamped another sail and stuck it over the top of the original sail to give a 3d effect
To finish the inside I inserted a brown liner to cover the string threaded through from the front. The message and boats were stamped on to Very Vanilla card .

This is the card using the All Aboriginal stamp set. The lizard was stamped using the rock'n roll technique. Great for overseas cards.

These are examples of other cards you can make with this technique, the number is endless.

Well that’s all from me. I hope you are enjoying the blog hop and getting lots of inspiration.
Next stop on the INKlings’ Team Blog Hop is Beth Stewart.
Have fun and don't forget to leave a comment on each blog to win some great Blog Candy.

Colour Challenge

This is the card I made for the last Cyberstamp challenge. This challenge was to make a card using Pumpkin Pie, Orchid Opulance, So Saffron and Kiwi Kiss.

I used the new Cottage Garden Stamp Set . The flowers were punched out using the 5 petal flower punch, save hours of cutting out and the background spots were embossed , of course, on the Big Shot.

The all white background was inspired by a card that Sue Walsh made and dislayed on her very active Consuming Passion blog.

Scrapbooking Challenge

The first challenge in this months cyberstamp was to make a scrapbook page using the layout for the card on page 52 of the Stampin' Up! main catalogue.

I used a photo i love of my son on his last day of school a few years ago. Unfortunately it didn't photograph very well but hopefully you get the idea.
